Organic food products

By Karol Wariala

Co-authored by: Salad Ceasar. Many companies have increased sales with the higher demand for natural organic products, in fact the shopper is much more aware what he/she buys and makes the selection more rigorously. Natural organic products speak of better health and higher quality because of the special non-processed form of the ingredients. Presently, vegetables, fruit, meat and dairy products have labels with the organic certification to inform the shopper on their validity. In fact, lots of supermarket chains have special contracts with exclusive suppliers of natural organic products, and this influences positively the price policy applied.

The dissemination of information: this is another criterion to extend the use of natural organic products. People want to be informed and need all sorts of materials to learn about the benefits to go organic. Market studies reveal the fact that there is quite a number of people who do not know how to shop for natural organic products because of this very improper access to information. The advantages of organic foods are the main aspects one should be aware of in order to make a smart purchase.

Thus, the fact that organic food means more food than conventional items should be enough to convince one to buy organic. Thus, there are more vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and healthier proteins.

There are other specifics closely related with the purchase of natural organic products. When you mainly rely on this kind of food, there are more benefits than you can suspect: there will be a lot less stress on the environment, for instance. This is the explanation why people who choose to live a green life ban products treated with chemicals.

With the increased exposure of natural organic products there may be surprises in the evolution of the food market in the future.

Will natural organic products preserve a high quality level? Is there any risk of alteration of the system that favors organic items over the conventional ones? Will regular crops disappear? Predictions can be made, but the truth is that the future is constantly being written and re-written. It is easy to figure out why with the higher organic food demand, many regular food producers will switch to the new conditions. However, the risk of this adjustment is the potential deterioration of the high quality of the natural organic products. It therefore remains to be seen which will win the battle of regular vs. organic.

Save Money Every Week With Grocery Coupons

By Jill Spencer

You can save money on the products that you purchase each and every week through the strategic use of grocery coupons. There are folks who save 30%, 40%, 50% and even more every single week. It takes just a little bit of time and some planning but the money that you save on the products that you will be buying anyway can make it definitely worth it.

There are some tips and techniques that you should consider as you begin to use grocery coupons more effectively. Planning your use of grocery coupons can go a long way to helping you to save money but use grocery coupons wisely and do not spend your hard-earned money on things that you don't need even if you do have a grocery coupon.

The manufacturers put out grocery coupons in order to entice you to try an item that you might not normally buy. But don't just buy a product because you have a coupon or you might end up spending more on your shopping excursion than you actually would have. Never purchase products that you don't need and you won't use. It's okay to try new items occasionally but if you start buying new products every week you end up defeating your purpose because you are spending money on the things that you would not normally purchase.

Every once in awhile you will end up spending more on a product even if you do have a grocery coupon. For example, a brand-name product of the same quality and quantity may end up costing more even when you use a grocery coupon than a generic or store-brand product. Brand loyalty is fine for some products and only you can decide if it is worth it but be aware that you are spending more on that item than if you bought the generic or store-brand item and cut back elsewhere. Use your coupons to offset the higher cost if brand loyalty is important to you.

One way to maximize your savings with grocery coupons is to check out the sales flyers and the in-store coupons. Combining manufacturers coupons with current sales and in-store coupons can net you a much higher return of savings. Learn about prices at the stores you visit and combine your coupons for the greatest percentage of savings.

Most stores are fairly competitive in their pricing. Some things may be priced higher at one store but other things will cost less and it will all even out. Infrequently you will find a store that just has higher prices altogether. Only you can decide if shopping at that store is worth it to you because of other considerations. If you are wise about the use of your coupons you will be able to save money wherever you decide to shop!

You can find coupons almost anywhere but it is essential not to clip a coupon just because it offers to save you money. Clip the coupons on only the items that you plan to purchase anyway. If you use a coupon on something that you were not planning on purchasing it ends up costing you more on your weekly shopping trip and that defeats your purpose.

Stick to a plan. Make your menus in advance so you know which products you need to purchase; use a strict shopping list and combine manufacturers coupons along with in-store sales and specials and in-store coupons and you will end up saving money.

Learn Simple SEO Tricks

By Hass67

Search engine optimization (SEO) is thought to be tough, difficult and time consuming by many. In this article, you can learn a few very simple SEO tricks that work very well on Google. Use these tricks to get your blog post ranked for a particular keyword.

Google gets a lot of daily searches and if that keyword has around 50+ searches daily that means traffic to your blog as long as your post has the ranking. You can get a lot of traffic to your blog if you use these tricks to rank a number of blog posts.

If you have a blog, then you need at least 50 posts for these tricks to work. In the beginning, Google will not take notice. But if you are consistent in posting a least once on your blog, Google will take notice once you have more than 50 posts.

Google is in love with blogs. Blogs give Google lots of fresh content. Blog posts get indexed on Google much faster than webpages. I have seen that Google indexes my blog post within five minutes. The reason, I post at least once every day.

Whenever you post on a blog, choose a keyword that you want to get your blog post ranked. The title of the blog post should contain that keyword

You should use that keyword within the first 25 words in the first sentence. Use the keyword as close to the beginning in the post as possible. Use the keyword in a natural manner in the content of the post but not more than 4%.

Use that keyword as anchor text for a link three or four times in the post. Bold the link. Use the keyword in the URL of that post like http:// www. Yourdomain.com/keyword, you can easily do this in both wordpress and blogger.

In Blogger, you should know that once you have published the post, you cannot change the URL. Blogger chooses the first few sentences from the title to include in the URL. So you should publish the post with only the keyword in the title. Afterwards you can always change the title again if you want but it should still contain the keyword.

If you do all these things that dont take more than ten minutes of your time you are telling Google; hey, this is the keyword for this particular post. You can use these very simple tactics to get your blog posts top ranking for keywords having 100,000 to 1000,000 competing webpages.

Wine Snobs...Got A Clue?

By Johnny Angolini

Do you take the glass and swish the contents around after the Sommelier pours a small amount of wine in your glass, and then set your nose over the glass rim acting as if you know what the heck you are checking for?

That was a mouthful I know, and a bit embarrassing from an English grammarian view point, but not as embarrassing as it will be if some one dares asks you, if you know what you're doing when you're performing this snobbish ritual.

In the early 20th century, when formal dining out was in it's hay day, it was or seemed to be chic to check the nose of the wine and test it on your palette. But those days have gone by... And I mean long ago! So for your sake, please don't ever do that when presented a bottle of wine at your table in a restaurant. Even if you are prompted to do so by the Sommelier or even a friendly waiter trying to score points with your party. Do not and I mean do not do this.

If you find yourself unable to resist the behavior, just understand you are likely to expose the wine server and yourself to an embarrassing and awkward moment in time. So just fight the urge and let the server pour the wine and then slip off to more important duties.

A popular trend presently with wine aficionados is to sip some wine, expose it to their palette and then gently swallow it. And then come forth with some extremely flowery language describing how it has a satin finish, or hint of Blackberry and Chocolate or some other crazy sounding mixture. When you hear someone do this, you know you are most likely in the presence of some overly self important wine snob. Unless you happen to be at a tasting held by a wine club.

Quasi wine aficionados are a dime a dozen and very easy to spot. It's truly amazing to watch a wine drinker start spouting off flowery language attempting to describe which most often is just an average wine. And many times less than and average wine it turns out.

Best practice these days require that you select a wine that you like and enjoy. Nothing more and nothing less. It's important to realize that your taste is just as good and important as that of anyone else. After all. isn't the object of drinking wine to enjoy it and be sociable? Do you care what fruity smell it might have or whether some candy can be associated with it. I doubt it.

A money saving tip: When dining out, call the restaurant ahead of time and ask if you can bring your own wine and if the restaurant can just charge corkage. This is a policy that a lot of restaurants have or are familiar with and are willing to provide you. It can mean the difference between buying a $12 bottle at a store and paying $25 to $40 for the same wine at the restaurant.

There is no payoff for being a wine snob. There is a big payoff for selecting a nice wine that you like and enjoy. A pleasant outing and keeping your dignity in tact is really worth killing the urge to appear as a wine expert. Let the quasi wine snobs look ridiculous . You will be glad you did.

Building Massive Back Links To Your Site (Part II)

By Hass67

I had talked about the importance of getting lots of back links to your site in one of my earlier articles. Back links are important for ranking well in the search engines. Back Link building is also called Off Page Optimization in SEO.

When you build links to your site, which websites link back to your site and the page rank of that website are important. Linking with websites that dont count with the search engines is a wasted effort.

Search engines also consider the anchor text used in linking back to your site. For example, if your website is about dating than the anchor text: dating tips may be given more importance than the anchor text: recommended website.

Search engines also take into account the page title of the website linking to you. The website should be considered to be an authority site by a search engine like Google for the back link to get more importance.

In nutshell, you have to be careful in deciding about the websites that should link back to you. Those websites should be related to your sites niche. They should be considered as authority sites and the anchor text used to link back to your site should contain your site related keyword.

So, getting lots of back links from authority sites is what counts with the search engines. How to go about getting lots of back links from authority sites?

You must have heard about social book marking sites. Social book marking sites like del.icio.us, digg, furl, propeller, stumble upon etc are very popular with Google. Most of them have a page rank of 6+.

Bookmarking your site on these social bookmark sites can get you tons of quality one way links. Many people visit these social bookmarking sites, so you can get many visitors in addition to back links as well.

Wheat flour: soft or strong?

By Maria

People love baking bread at home more and more. There is a kind of magic in putting together flour and water and kneading, and home baking is also much cheaper than buying baked goods (bread in particular) at the supermarket. Flour industry has responded to this demand by making more flours available on the supermarket shelves.

In this article I will give en overview of wheat flour, by far the most common in bread baking. Wheat was one of the first plants to be grown by humanity, its first appearance dating back to thousands of years BC in the Fertile crescent in Southwest Asia. Later it spread to other areas, like Europe, Ethiopia and China. Nowadays the European Union is the world first producer of wheat (with France and Italy the main producers within the EU), followed by China.

The seed (or kernel) of wheat is composed of three parts. The bran is the outer shell, and contains fibers and vitamins (especially B). The endosperm is a source for starch (a polysaccharide carbohydrate). The germ is small, but full of vitamin E and B and antioxidants. These three parts can be combined to obtain different kinds of flour.

White flour is produced from ground endosperm. Whole grain (also called wholemeal) flour is made grounding all three parts together. A particular type of wholemeal flour is called Graham flour, where the three parts are grounded separately (the endosperm more finely, and the bran and the germ more coarsely) then mixed back together. Germ flour is made from the endosperm plus the germ. Germ and bran can also be found alone as by-products of milling process. Germ is often used as supplement for athletes as an aid to gain muscle resistance, whereas bran is added to breads to enrich their fiber content.

The right flour for bread baking is "strong." The strength of a flour depends on the content of gluten, a proteic complex composed of glutenin and gliadin. Gluten absorbs water up to 150% of its weight, and when the dough is left to rise, it withholds the CO2 produced by the yeast, giving bread its typical bubbly and spongy texture. If you have ever kneaded strong flour you will have noticed that the more you work it, the harder the dough gets. This is the flour's strength. Gluten forms a kind of elastic coat, that can be stretched while kneading and holds its shape when baked.

The higher the protein content, the stronger the flour. Ideally, percentage of protein should be 15% but 12% is also fine. If the protein is below 10%, it means that the flour is "soft" and should be used to prepare cakes. Apart from bread, strong flour is also used to prepare Italian dishes like pizza, focaccia, and fresh pasta.

Here are 10 top tips for buying a great stockpot?

By Stephen Kember

Stockpots are some of the most important and most frequently used items when cooking outdoors so it really makes sense to buy a good one. See it as an important long term investment in your outdoor cooking equipment kitchen.

Stockpots come in various sizes from smallish to huge, regrettably they come in highly variable levels of quality and just to confuse us they are available in both stainless steel and aluminum. Before progressing you must decide which type of stockpot will best suit you.

With stockpots the idea that one size fits all doesn't apply. You will need a few stockpots when cooking outdoors so buy with that in mind. If you can't afford a full set now buy the size that youre going to use the most and then buy more later.

Stockpots typically come in a domestic format ranging from 8 quarts, okay for small scale cooking to 12 quarts for everyday bigger scale cooking inside; but if youre looking to stock up your outdoor cooking equipment then youre going to need larger pots.

And if a big stockpot is what you are after then youll find stockpots ranging in size, for example in the Bayou Classic range, from: 24 to 36 to 44 to 62 to 82 quarts going right up to a 162 quart stainless steel stock pot. The choice is up to you.. But remember, the larger the pot the more powerful the burner that is needed to heat it up with.

So you want to buy a stockpot? Here are ten essential tips:

1. Aluminum is lighter in weight; it provides even heating without heat spots; it costs less size for size than stainless steel but it easily dents, is harder to clean, doesn't last as long, and certainly doesn't look as good as stainless steel;

2. By contrast stainless steel is easy to clean; lasts longer; doesn't dent easily, and it looks nice as a piece of cookware. However it does suffer from heat spots, it is heavier and it is more its more expensive;

3. Go for 'quality' whether buying aluminum or stainless steel. Do take seriously the fact that there is a lot of 'rubbish' in the marketplace at the present. I warn you, if you buy cheap then you'll soon come to regret it!

4. When selecting your stockpot, basket and lid, especially if you're buying a large pot, ensure that its made from the highest standard of commercial grade stainless steel or aluminum appropriate for that size of pot;

5. Go for a stock pot that has an indention just short of the top of the pot; this holds the basket off the bottom of the pot for when steaming;

6. Its important that your stockpot has a thick base; this is where you'll get wear, especially with poorer grade aluminum pots;

7. Ensure that the lid fits well, i.e. snugly and tightly and that the pot has a tidy rim that makes pouring from it easy;

8. Go for pot with well designed, good quality spacious handles that are secure. Poor quality rivets and small handles are an absolute no-no as you're going to be lifting some very hot liquids bearing considerable weight!

9. Don't be concerned about the width versus height argument. Some say the height has to be greater than the width but, in all my outdoor cooking, with every conceivable size of stockpot, including the largest of pots, which typically have a wider base than depth, I don't find any difference whatsoever in respect of the taste of the food that is served up. Indeed I would go for the counter argument for practical reasons. If you have a wider base, especially when you're cooking over a big flame outdoors you'll find it far easier to brown and to stir in a wider pot rather than in an overly tall pot;

10. Finally don't expect to find a good range of quality stockpots in the local hardware store. You might find one or two pots from the odd one or two good brands but you're much better off going online and investigating the many great offers across the whole range of sizes that you'll find there. And whilst you might find some great brands at a cookware specialty store you're very likely to be paying far, far more than if you buy online; a lot more.

Pancake Flipping with Cooking Spatulas

By Roger D. Romen

Everybody loves pancakes, right? Unless you are on a no carb diet or you despise food, you probably enjoy a stack of pancakes now and then. Most people don't have pancakes on a regular basis like they would cereal or something like that because they take longer to make, but they are delicious.

It usually takes longer to make pancakes than it does other breakfasts. For example, cereal is as simple as pouring it from a box into a bowl and then pouring milk over the cereal. Then your all set to eat. With pancakes, you have to make batter, pour it onto a griddle to form pancakes, cook, flip, cook some more, and serve it.

While pancakes aren't too hard to cook up, if you want them to actually resemble pancakes, you need to know how to correctly and effectively flip them. If you flip them wrong, you might end up with a mess of pancake that just doesn't look right. Get the flip down and you will get what you know as a pancake.

Now you will need to get your flipping tool. Preferably don't use something that is metal. This will scratch the pan and if your griddle has a nonstick coating, you will ruin it. Use some sort of cooking spatula like a turner. It should be pretty much the same thing you use to flip burgers.

Start by pouring the batter on a hot griddle. Make the pancakes average size. If they are too big, they will be much harder to flip. Turn them over only when they are absolutely ready. Tiny bubbles will form along the top. This takes about a minute or so for average size pancakes.

Now to flip. Slide the turner underneath the pancake quickly so as to not push the pancake off the pan or into another pancake. After lifting the pancake off the pan, place the edge of the turner to the side of where you want to flip it then quickly flip it over on to the spot. Then just let it cook another minute and it's ready to serve!

Are There Health Benefits of Oolong Tea?

By Jared Rothe

Oolong tea is a semi fermented tea plant camellia sinensis and has a lot of long term health benefits. Many have reported that tea can have negative side effects. It is true but only when you drink tea too excessively. You can drink around 4-5 cups of tea on a daily basis.

Oolong tea is a semi fermented which means it contains much more polyphenols than other teas such as black tea. The polyphenols are called tannin by the scientific name.

To the regular oolong tea drink you can experience some healthy benefits such as detoxification. You will also see a reduction in your triglycerides. The polyphenols bring a lot of healthy benefits with them.

Triglycerides are the leading cause of obesity. Too many of them can lead to a lot of fat buildup. In China oolong tea has been used as a supplement to weight loss programs. It can aid in weight loss when combined with a healthy diet and exercise.

Oolong also helps our body metabolize fats faster. The polyphenol components in oolong tea increases our natural capacity to melt triglycerides deposited in fats thus making it easier to excrete the excess out of our systems.

Experiments have been conducted on rats in isolated settings to determine if oolong tea will help prevent obesity. Rats were given oolong to drink and had a better weight classification than that of the rats that only had water to drink.

Aside from aiding in weight reduction, many people reduced their risks of suffering from high cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, weak immune system, digestive problems, skin problems, and acute stress.

Does Milk Cause Cellulite?

By El Bilson

We certainly do enjoy our daily consumption of diary products, but I have often wondered " does milk cause cellulite? Can we improve the look of your skin and get rid of cellulite simply by making a dietary change?

Have you ever thought about the connection between the foods we eat and the appearance of our skin? More specifically have you wondered " does milk cause cellulite? Some people feel that milk does indeed lead to this skin disorder. While some of us would not enjoy giving up our daily dairy products, others might find this to be worth a shot if it means no more cellulite!

One of the biggest controversies surrounding milk is the amount of hormones contained in milk. These hormones are mainly from the hormones given to the cows to enable them to produce more milk. Many feel that these extra hormones can do damage to our bodies when we regularly ingest them.

Since cellulite responds to hormonal changes with in the body, it would make sense that an increase in hormones would trigger an increase in the amount of cellulite found on the skin. Some studies have shown that a reduction of cellulite was found in women who stopped using diary products. It took about 6 to 12 months for these women to notice a difference in their skin.

For many women who are dying to get rid of their cellulite and have tried many different products in the past with no luck, a simple diet change may be the solution all they need. This can be hard to accomplish however. Diary products are found in a lot of the foods we eat " just try eating something that doesnt contain milk or cheese!

A simple solution to regular cows milk is to use goats milk. Goats milk doesnt usually have the hormones found in normal cows milk. Be careful with yogurt too as yogurt is made from cow's milk.

Some people may feel that there is no true answer to the question does milk cause cellulite. Many feel that this topic has not been studied extensively. This leads them to feel that no scientific conclusion can be drawn as to whether or not milk leads to cellulite. While this point is valid, it should not be used to dissuade those who are interested in eliminating diary from their diets in order to obtain better health.

Not only are women asking does milk cause cellulite, but they are wondering if milk products are the source of some of their other health problems as well. These can include things such as digestive issues, weight gain and acne. Going off diary products may be helpful for many a variety of reasons, not just cellulite.

In conclusion, only you can decide if milk really does impact your cellulite. If you decide to stay away from diary products, make sure you give yourself enough time to notice results. A week or so probably will not cut it as our bodies are often slow to change. You will most likely need to dedicate 6 months to a year towards this project. While after this amount of time you may not find any results with your cellulite, you may notice that you do not crave or tolerate milk products any longer.

New and Exciting Engine 2 Diet

By Joshua Anderson

If you are the one who has decided to go on a diet and lose weight, then you can opt to follow the Engine 2 Diet. Rip Esselstyn who is the author of the Engine 2 diet book has mentioned various ways of losing weight and reducing cholesterol in just 28 days. The Engine 2 Diet has the meals readily planned for you. You have to only shop for the ingredients as per the items that are mentioned in the diet plan and prepare easy meals. The items are available at most stores selling natural foods. Then along with this planned meal plan and with the planned exercise regime mentioned in the Engine 2 diet you can find yourself on becoming a new you. If you are a first timer, it is best you get the help from others who have opted to follow the Engine 2 Diet plan.

Under the Engine 2 diet, low fat protein foods like fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds and whole grains are the main ingredients for food. Such a kind of a diet is not followed by so many of us and so it is not very easy to switch immediately to this kind of a diet plan. During the transition period that is when you switch on to this plan one can include fish and chicken in the diet. Even soy yoghurt, tofu and vegetable burgers are allowed to be consumed. So are whole grain pastas and whole grain crackers, which are allowed so that the Engine 2 diet plan does not get too boring. You will be surprised to note that in this plan with every 1000 calories you consume you will be consuming just 2.5 grams fat contents. Usage of oil while cooking these foods is a strict no and sugar should be used just as a natural sweetener only.

In the Engine 2 diet plan you are required to consume less salt. This diet is a vegetarian diet and concentrates mainly on plant proteins. People usually tend to consume dairy products, meat and eggs which are considered as rich sources of protein. Proteins which exist in the form of chains are actually made up of around twenty amino acids out of which only eight amino acids can be ingested from the food that we eat. These amino acids are important for our body and as per the Engine 2 diet plan the plants also can give us the necessary amino acids. Carbohydrates provide energy and fuel to the body and our body absorbs at least 70 percent calories from the carbohydrates that we consume daily.

There are a variety of plants containing different quantities of amino acids. In the Engine 2 diet different vegetables containing different amino acids are put together in various quantities so that your body can get just the right amount of proteins. Non vegetarian foods also contain protein, but the proteins obtained in the vegetables are considered to be much safer. Carbohydrates provide energy to the body, and all the various bodily functions like breathing, exercising, the digestion process etc. all require energy to function. Both the simple and the complex carbohydrates are sugars and get converted into glucose after the digestion process.

The muscles and the liver can store carbohydrates in the form of glycogen, but carbohydrates are stored in the blood in the form of glucose. The body system functions in such a manner that even if the body consumes excess carbohydrates, they are stored as fats in the body. Vegetables like beans, sweet potatoes, different whole grain breads and fruits contain health friendly complex carbohydrates which release sugar in the system in a controlled manner. These carbohydrates allow the body to use carbohydrates as fuel thus leaving you energetic throughout the whole day. And it has been proved beyond doubt by various researchers that even plants can give you all the required fat.

Other foods that give you simple carbohydrates, will give you a high and instant energy, but then get stored as fat. It is thus, these simple carbohydrates that really make us fat. The excess simple carbohydrates that are converted into fat and stored in the body are dangerous to our well-being. The fat content in some vegetables is as follows: Strawberries - 5% fat, broccoli - 8%, spinach - 11%, and bell peppers - 6%. The super food soybeans give us 41% fat. Different types of nuts are a good source of fat as well. The fats that plants provide are the good fats, either mono or poly unsaturated fats.

In a case study given by Esselstyn the author of the book Engine 2 diet, he states that a gentleman, Tony Gonzalez beat breast cancer so that he could win more than a thousand triathlons. Martina Navratilova, a hugely competitive tennis champion was on a plant based diet. Even Salim Stoudamire, NBA player, Dave Scott went on to win the famous Iron man triathlon in Hawaii. They too were on a plant based diet. From this study we can realize that the best nutrients can be obtained from plants. Essential calories can be obtained from different plants. Good nutrients obtained from the plants are always slowly released into our body system. Very essential supplements like Vitamin B 12 can be richly obtained from fortified soy milk.

Consequently, the energy that plants which are high in fiber and packed with nutrients provide is consistent all through the day, instead of periodically giving you a high. It would be better to substitute fish oil with ground flaxseed, walnuts, soybeans, and green leafy vegetables. These are all rich in omega-3. You could also try omega-3 supplements from plankton. Butter, margarine and sour cream do make food tasty but the inherent danger in eating foods which have these, is something that you will need to seriously think about if you want to enjoy good health.

We all develop certain tastes, right from our childhood. So when we try out the natural plant food, in the beginning, we find the taste a bit different, but as the time goes by one can get used to it and it becomes a kind of a habit. Once you find that you are fitter than before you realize the actual benefits of plant food in comparison to non vegetarian foods.

Usana Essentials - Nutritional supplements for good health

By Angela Giles

Usana Essentials are nutritional supplements marketed by Usana Health Sciences in 14 countries worldwide. Our daily diet performs the function of nourishing our body with essential vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. However, the supply through diet alone is not sufficient to meet the needs of the body. This is because our diet chiefly consists of processed food items which are nutritionally inferior compared to fresh vegetables and other food. Therefore, nutritional supplements are required to bridge the gap.

Authorities in nutrition and the US government have a list of 13 organic compounds and 19 inorganic elements which are termed essential for cell function. Usana Essentials contain all these nutrients and many more which have been recommended by other advanced studies in nutrition. They also include sufficient quantity of antioxidants which serve to counteract the action of free radicals on cells.

The body needs certain substances in a minimum quantity; otherwise it creates a state of deficiency, which can be harmful to health. Deficiency of nutrients causes disorders and diseases. Usana believes in promoting good health, not just preventing poor health. Hence, its supplements have a far higher amount of nutrients than are required for minimum health needs.

Vitamins and Minerals do not work in isolation. Different functions of the body needs these nutrients to work together. Presence of these nutrients in the wrong proportion can lead to adverse health effects. Keeping this in mind, Usana Essentials combine these nutrients in the right proportion so that they can work safely and effectively.

Natural food items are preferred over processed ones because natural food provides nutrients in a form which the body can digest. Therefore, Usana has taken great pains to produce its supplements in a bioavailable form. This makes it easy for the body to accept the supplements for its purposes.

Nutrition must be customized for different age-groups. The quantity of macro- and micro-nutrients required by children and adults vary to a large extent. Children need more energy for growth and development. Grown-ups need energy for maintenance of cell-metabolism. A planned approach to dietary supplements would take care of these differences.

Usana Essentials offer Usanimals and BodyRox for children and teenagers. Usanimals is a tasty chewable tablet for the below 12-year olds, while BodyRox is for the 13-18 year old teenagers. For adults, a combination of anti-oxidants and essential minerals is available under the names of Mega Antioxidant and Chelated Mineral. Usana products have been rated No.1 in a comparative study of 1500 nutritional supplements.

Bread Machine Mixes For Bread Making Machines.

By Marion Jones

Are bread machine mixes any good? Yes, some of them are, but the problem with all bread machine mixes is that they limit your choice and discourage your creative talents. That may sound a little harsh, but think about it for a minute. If you rely on bread machine mixes you can only make the bread for which you can find a bread machine mix and you can only put the bread machine mix in the bowl and switch the bread making machine on. You are not encouraged to alter the bread machine mix for fear that it won't work.

What is the alternative? Well, the old-fashioned cookbook, of course! Not any old cookbook, but a specialized bread making machine recipe book. Bread making is a very simple, but rather tedious process. The ingredients are everyday, household items: water, flour, yeast, salt, sugar and oil. You already have those items in your cupboard with the possible exception of the yeast, which can be bought everywhere at low cost.

And I'm sure you already know what happens when you cook following a recipe, don't you? You've already read the recipe through and you know you have everything in the kitchen, but when the recipe requires, let's say, sultanas, you open the cupboard door and see that you don't have any sultanas - they were currants! Oh, well you think, they'll do. You make do. You experiment. And that means that you are developing your skills and creativity. Bread making mixes cannot and will not do that for you.

A good bread making machine recipe book will have something over 100 recipes coming from a number of different countries and you will become really enthusiastic about experimenting with the various ones. Have you ever tasted Welsh bread - Bara Brith? Or English muffin bread? Jalapeno bread or banana bread? Onion bread is lovely too, but one of my all time favourites is Brazil Nut Bread - absolutely delicious.

The fact is that you may not find recipes for all these breads in one recipe book, but if you have a safe starting point, like a bread recipe cookbook, you can begin by using previously tried and tested gourmet bread recipes and gradually develop your own - oftentimes because you have to.

I once made a fantastic loaf by adding all the left-over vegetables from my Sunday lunch. It was lovely, but I could never quite reproduce it, because I did not write down the weights and measures. I could only remember that it had green beans, potatoes and sweet corn in it!

Bread machine mixes will never ever provide that, will they? Furthermore, bread machine mixes are fairly expensive compared to the cost of 10 pounds of flour. I usually vary the ingredients too: honey instead of sugar, milk instead of water, olive oil or butter instead of just corn oil. Rock salt instead of sea salt or visa versa. I'm sure you see what I mean.

Bread machine mixes are not only limited but limiting too. Furthermore, a bread making machine is a great way to use up leftovers. I have added meat and fruit in my gourmet bread many times. My guiding principle is: if it'll go in a sandwich it'll go in the dough - like an Indian stuffed paratha or stuffed naan bread.

Save your money by not buying bread machine mixes and be creative with a bread machine recipes cookbook.

Why you should Care about your Electric Griddle's Quality

By Ellen P. Strauss

The quality of your kitchen appliances shouldn't be your biggest concern, but that doesn't mean you should settle for less. Poor quality will mean having to buy a new one more often or having to settle with inferior quality cooking. You don't want to have to deal with either of those.

If you love to cook, or even if you only cook occasionally, you don't want to have to worry about the performance of your cooking supplies. You just want to get it done and have everything cooked as it should.

Using an electric griddle in your kitchen will give you lots to do. You can cook all kinds of food from pancakes to chicken and you can do it even if you don't have a stove. An electric griddle also gives you more cooking space.

When looking for a good quality you need to keep several things in mind. First of all, price does not necessarily mean quality. The most expensive electric griddle might not be the best one for you.

Look for a griddle of a brand that you know is quality. There are some brands out there that are familiar and others that you've never heard of. If you see a brand that you have several appliances from already, that is a good sign.

Make sure the griddle will last and that it performs now. Make sure it will heat all the way through. This is one advantage of an electric griddle. With a stovetop griddle, you only get the heat from where the burner is. With an electric griddle, it needs to heat at every spot and at every corner.

Shop around. There's no reason why you can't so some searching around on the internet for the best griddle. It's what you have the opportunity to do and should do whenever you buy something.

Reasons to Store Food Today " Mountain House Freeze Dried Food

By Chelsea Seger

The only certainty about the future is that it is not a certainty. Because of this, creating a supply of storable food for your family makes good sense.

There are many reasons to store some food. Here are some:

Economic Downturn Unemployment Erratic Weather (earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, tornados, droughts) Contamination of Food Supplies Quarantines Disruptions in Transportation Social Unrest Acts of Terrorism

Being prepared for a disaster can reduce fear, anxiety, and losses. This means having your own food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quantity to last for an extended period of time. If you dont prepare beforehand, you will solely be dependent on relief organizations and the government. Not a great position to be in. A prime example is how New Orleans residents fared after Hurricane Katrina.

The disappearance of the bees is another reason to store food. Most scientists agree that 70% to 80% of the bees have disappeared. No one knows where they went. In general, people also don't know how important the bees are in producing the food that they eat each day. If you feel that the bees disappearance isn't affecting the food supply very much, what will you think if more disappear? Research scientists tell us that if the bees continue to disappear, the quality and quantity of food in the grocery stores will fall off rapidly.

At the end of the 1950s, beginning of the 1960s, the U.S. produced enough food to feed the world five times over. Things are different today. The U.S can't grow enough food to feed is citizens, which makes us dependent on food imports from other countries. Well, how safe is the food imported from those other countries? In the past few months, there have been many reports of contaminated food arriving from China. How did we allow the U.S. to get in this vulnerable position?

Last year, the planet did not produce enough food to feed its population. One thing is certain, this can not continue for much longer before shortages of foods start appearing in the grocery stores.

You will not be able to control the destiny of your family if you have to run to the grocery store every few days to obtain food. Any breakdown of the food distribution chain will cause shortages to start appearing in the grocery store shelves almost immediately. Are you comfortable with the chance that your family won't have enough food to eat when they really need it?

When you have your own food supply, you'll never have to stand in line at a food bank and ask for help.

Don't Taurine and Drive

By Dr. Frederik Gupta

Most energy drinks contain Taurine. Why? Because Red Bull, maybe on a hunch, added Taurine to their drink 20 years ago and no one ever asked why. That's why. It amazes me that over 7 billion cans of energy drinks are consumed every year (one for every human being!) despite the fact that they contain several highly questionable ingredients. Us humans definitely travel in herds!

The reality is that taurine in energy drinks is not only useless, several studies seem to indicate that it is actually bad for you. Especially the synthetic kind found in energy drinks (see Heart Problems with Synthetic Taurine), and even more specifically when combined with caffeine (see Taurine and Caffeine).

This might be why some countries such as France, Denmark and Sweden have banned Red Bull from their supermarket shelves. There are similar initiatives to regulate these products in other countries (Australia, Canada).

There is no doubt that energy drinks make us feel more mentally alert and help us perform. I drink some myself once in a while before a long drive or when working late at night. The same way I drink coffee or tea: as a stimulant when I need it.

What I find offensive is that most of these drinks come with so many other toxic ingredients (Taurine, HFCS, aspartame) that the overall risk of consumption outweighs the potential benefits. The same could be said of several drugs currently in the clinical trial phase. This is why the FDA is involved in reviewing and ultimately rejecting those drugs where the negative side effects outweigh the postive atttributes. There is no such review of these potentially toxic cocktails.

Some of the energy drinks I dislike are the usual culprits: Red Bull, Monster, Rockstar. They are basically carbon copies of each other. Some of the energy drinks I DO like are Guyaki Yerba Matte, GURU Energy Drink, and Sambason Energy. they all contain mostly what you need in an energy drink. A stimulant (natural caffeine, guaranine or yerba matte) plus a minimum of other ingredients, most of them organic.

Its encouraging to see that more and more mainstream youth are saying no to the chemical cocktails that have mushroomed onto our shelves of late. Rap superstar Kanye West recently annouced he was working on developing a low-calorie organic and natural product with GURU Energy Drinks. This should teach us that younger can sometimes mean much smarter.

What to Do with Your Corn Plant

By Matthew James

Corn has as many uses as it does varieties to grow. Most widely known strains of corn, the most valuable one being dent corn or field corn which is primarily used as cattle feed, sweet corn that is often sold on road side stands and of course the most loved corn- popcorn. After you grow your corn, there are a lot of things you can do with it besides just eat it off the husk and corn can be used in many different products.

Eating corn on the cob is the most and common way to dine on the crop after it is harvested. The best way eat corn is just to eat it on the cob. Simply unwrap it, boil it, and eat it. Put lots of butter on it. You can roast it on the grill to make it really savory. This is a popular way to eat corn and one the experts recommend. You should eat corn after it is picked because it loses its flavor quickly. I really like corn when it is roasted and then salted and buttered. This is the best way to eat the crop.

You can use your harvested corn to make corn flour- the same kind used in tortillas and taco shells, and corn chips. In order to get the corn to be like flour, it must be ground up. You must mash it and dry it very well into a fine mush then you can use it to bake with. Sometimes this corn flour serves as a thickening agent in an array of delectable food dishes because of the starch in the plant. Corn is also put to use for making delicious sauces, cakes, puddings, sweets and desserts and a lot of the food that gets processed. Corn is king and it is in everything.

Additionally, corn is also a staple cereal, second to rice and wheat. It helps to produce a number of essential industrial products as well. The main ingredient in corn which is starch, when dried can be used to convert into dextrin or can even be put to use in its present state. In case, it is not dried, it can be processed into sugars and syrups. Oil, which is extracted from the corn seed is used in the manufacture of soap and glycerin and if refined in extreme conditions, can serve the purpose as a salad oil or can used for cooking purposes as well. You will find corn starch and corn syrup in all the food products on the shelf. Corn is cheap so it is used in everything, which is not always good.

Corn is also an outstanding feed for livestock attributing to its benefits of high in energy, easily digestible and low in fiber features. The corn crop can be either cut green or dried for fodder and serves as an essential forage crop also. Corn is feed to both cows and pigs in order to fatten then up. This is cheap way to feed both your animals as well keep in one area where you can look after them and ensure they do not get into too much trouble.

All parts of the corn are put to optimal use. The husk can be braided and weaved to make masks, baskets, sleeping mats or moccasins. Fabrics that are used to make your clothing are strengthened and hardened with corn starch. More so, many of the soft drinks that you so enjoy guzzling down are sweetened with corn syrup. In addition ethanol is made from corn too. There are many things you can do with the corn you have just grown. You can eat it, cook it, use it as an additive, and drive with it. Corn has a myriad of uses.

How LDS Food Storage Can Save Your Lives

By Greg Shuey

One of the things constantly being taught to us by The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints is that we must always have emergency food storage. LDS individuals and families have taken the need for emergency food storage seriously. And we cant blame them. Its always better to be prepared when disaster strikes.

According to them we must have LDS food storage that will last for at least 3 months. Together with that, we must also have 72-hour survival kits. The Prophet, together with his counselors, through divine guidance, knows that difficult and troubling times are going to come to us. And since we have the advantage of knowing that fact, it is best to be prepared.

Having food storage is essential for every family. It must be considered a top priority in every household. Taking this very important precaution will ensure that you and your family will have enough food and basic necessities to sustain yourselves for a period of time. Youll never know when disaster will strike. It acts like a thief in the night so you must be fully-prepared to tackle it head-on. Its better safe than sorry, right?

What are the things you need to remember when stacking up on LDS food storage?

First of all, you must make sure that it has the most basic items that will keep your family well-fed and healthy in tough times. Having said that, prioritize food items that have high nutritional value, and not just any food. It doesnt matter if you have something to eat when your body is not getting the right nutrition it needs.

Choose cereals, wheat, biscuits, canned goods that have high nutritional value and easy-to-prepare meals that are healthy. Avoid junk foods.

Keep from stacking bread and other perishable foods. Since your goal is to have something stored for future use, dont store foods that rot. You can go for biscuits instead.

Second, have enough water supply. Drinking water is very important to sustain you for long periods of time. You can go on without food for days as long as you drink water. During times of emergency, water lines may be damaged by calamities, cutting your water supply. Having a barrel or gallons ready for storing water will be of great help in the long run.

Lastly, orient your family members as to where the LDS food storage should be kept, what goes into it, and how to properly utilize its contents when the need arises. Emergencies can disorient a person and will make them unsure of what to do. Knowing where to get it when disaster hits will make things easier for you.

Learn How To Get Coffee Enema Done

By Jacky Lee

Although coffee enema is not a popular cleansing and detoxification method, it has been around since 1917 and was started by Dr. Max Gerson. Coffee enema is different from saline enema due to the caffeine and many substances in coffee that could stimulate the liver and speed up the detoxification process. If you follow a step by step instruction, you can make your own coffee enema or by yourself. This method doesnt require any supervision by specialist nor therapist. Heres a simple guide to make your own coffee enema at home:

Firstly, you need to start preparing all the materials that are required. The materials for coffee enema are a reusable enema kit, organic coffee powder, jug, pot and purified water. If you cant find organic coffee, choose a good coffee powder that hasnt been decaffeinated. Jug must be large enough to contain 1.5 litre of liquid and pot is used to cook the coffee. If you dont have purified water, filter the water and boil it. For pot, you can choose a normal one or a french press pot.

Mix 2 teaspoon of coffee powder with some water and boil it for 10 minutes. Strain the coffee you just boiled into the jug with a fine strainer. Mix the purified or filtered water until the coffee reaches 1.5 litres. Always make sure the temperature of the coffee is almost the same as the temperature of your body. If the coffee is too hot, it will cause harm to our intestines. If the coffee is too cold, the process will not be effective. Pour it into the enema bag and Hang it on a door knob or something that has similar height. Put some olive oil at the end of the tube.

Open the clamp to release some coffee out from the tube. This step is important to make sure no air is in the tube. Put some olive oil at the end of the tube and insert 2 or 3 inches into your anus. Lie down on the floor with your right side facing the ground. You can lay a mat if your toilet is dirty too. Open the clamp and start releasing the coffee into your body. Hold it for 10 minutes and go to the toilet bowl and release everything out.

For the first few times, you might not be able to hold half bag of the coffee. Dont force yourself to do so. Just release everything into the toilet bowl and go back to continue with the rest of the coffee. If you follow the guide, youll get to see liquid stools that are black or dark in color and smell horrible. Those are the wastes and toxins you removed from your body with coffee. If you are lucky, you might get to see some worm shape parasites.

Youll enjoy your coffee enema if you follow the guide. Dont forget to read more safety instructions and information about coffee enema.

What are the Processes Used by Large Companies to Make Chocolates

By Colin Joss

How do large companies make chocolate? For one, they need capital to be able to buy the equipment they need and also the ingredients.

Cocoa beans cant be harvested in a lot of places in United States. So these companies have to go places like the Ivory Coast, South America and Ghana.

The Cacao trees grow a fruit that has white pulp and seeds varying from 20-40. The pulp is trashed while the seeds are the cocoa beans.

After the beans are taken out, they are treated in the process of fermentation. This process makes the shells hard, develop the flavor of cocoa and the beans get darken up which over all takes a week. Once its all done they are delivered to the chocolate factory for further manufacturing.

It is more appropriate to deliver the cocoa beans by ship than by air due to the fact that mostly large companies order these in bulk. After reaching the dock, it is taken to the factory by carrying on railroad cars for its cleaning and proper storage.

Chocolates as we know taste different and this is depends on the country of origin of the beans. The first step in converting these into chocolate is to roast these in large revolving roasters at high temperatures.

Then the shell of the cocoa is removed by a specially designed hulling machine. The content inside the bean in called NIB. This is that part of the bean which is required for the making of chocolate.

The nibs are then turned into a liquid state through a process called milling. Then ingredients are added including cocoa butter, milk, sugar and chocolate liquor. These all are to give an additional taste to the chocolate.

Chocolate liquor is a combination of milk and sugar. The end product of this coarse brown powder called a chocolate crumb. As for milk, this is taken from the farm where it is tested, pasteurized and mixed with sugar until it turns into a thick, taffy like material.

The cocoa butter is then included to add the taste and make the texture of chocolate creamy. The mixture is then made smoother by grinding and refining using steel rollers.

After all that, the mixture becomes a thick liquid often referred to as chocolate paste. Since there still may be some gritty particles, it is placed inside another machine called the conche for 24 to 72 hours.

When the paste has been smoothened, this is the time that the liquid chocolate is poured into the mold. The process is very fast inside a factory as some produce about a thousand of these a minute that is something that can never be done manually. If the chocolate comes in many varies, this is also the time that almonds and peanuts are added.

The air bubbles are then set free from the machine through a cooling tunnel so the chocolate is evenly settled and the chocolate paste is turned into the solid form.

Lastly, it is wrapped up, put in boxes and delivered to the stores. They are available to be sold now.

Customers then buy these off the shelf and then enjoy its yummy taste without ever thinking for one moment how do large companies make chocolate.

Authentic Mexican Meals

By KC Kudra

Mexico has a unique cuisine that is both healthy and colorful. Mexico was home to the Aztec, Zapotec, and Mayan civilizations, and as such, had a well developed agricultural society. They ate staples like corn, beans, peppers, avocados, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and squashes. Meat sources included turkey, venison, and small animals like rabbit and quail. Chocolate is also native to this area, and was originally prepared as a bitter beverage served to the Aztec royalty.

When the Spanish discovered Mexico, they brought their own favorite foods. Cream, beef, bread, and cheese were combined with the foods growing in Mexico. They brought over livestock like sheep, pigs, and chickens, as well as crops like wheat and sugarcane. When Spain stopped ruling Mexico three hundred years later, they had made quite an impact on traditional Mexican cuisine.

The most important ingredient in Mexican cuisine is corn. Cornmeal, also known as masa, is made into dough that forms the base for tamales, empanadas, and tortillas. Corn is also added as an ingredient to stews, soups and more. Flour tortillas are more popular in northern Mexico. Chili peppers are frequently used in Mexican dishes. Jalapenos, Serrano and poblano chilies are some of the more popular choices.

Beans are an important part of Mexican cuisine and it provides a lot of protein. Each region has their own favorite bean. For instance, pinto beans are favored in the north, while black beans are the bean of choice on the Yucatan. Beans are used in soups, as side dishes like frijoles, and as filling.

Beans are not the only food that is regional. In the hot, dry north, beef is eaten a lot because there is plenty of room for grazing. The Pacific coast offers excellent coffee and corn stew. On the Gulf coast, tropical fruits and vegetables are served with fish and seafood. The Spanish influence is very strong in Central Mexico, as this is where they settled. On the Yucatan Peninsula, seafood, eggs, black beans and corn are common food items.

If you want to try making a typical Mexican meal at home, there are many easy recipes to try out. Authentic Mexican rice recipes can set the tone for your entire meal. Rice is frequently used in Mexico as a side dish or as filling. Once you have tried a recipe or two at home, you will see how delicious authentic Mexican food can be.

Do not be afraid to experiment and try new things. A new variety of bean may add a different texture or flavor to your meal. Serve tortillas and salsa with a meal, or try something completely new like ceviche. Even the kids can get busy in the kitchen and make quesadillas or tacos.

You can also add Mexican cuisine to any meal. For breakfast, try mixed tropical fruit or scrambled eggs mixed with salsa. Top a tortilla with a fried egg and add some ham, tomatoes, chilies, and cheese. Add a side of refried beans and you will have a breakfast that will break up the normal routine.

The Reliability of Free Rapid Weight Loss Tips

By William Bartelli

Have you ever noticed that some of the most popular free rapid weight loss tips are not free at all?

We get great entertainment from the media so when we're looking for facts or weight loss tips avenues such as newspapers, magazines or the TV is usually the first place we're gonna look.

But often times these flashy ads that promise free rapid weight loss tips are not being straight with us. What they are really offering are a bunch of cleverly constructed marketing campaigns dressed up as free weight loss advice.

One successful campaign in particular is the one where some average Joe says that all they did was eat at a certain restaurant and the weight just fell off them.

This person then of course tours the country and goes on all these different TC shows saying that they lost weight in not time at all just from eating at Joe'sor wherever.

These kind of free rapid weight loss tips often sound too good to be true because they are. What's not mentioned is the amount of exercise this person had to do to achieve these kind of results.

So despite what you've heard, if you're looking for free rapid weight loss tips then don't be fooled. You will need to do more than just eat a load of fat free sub sandwiches to get the kind of results you're after.

Don't believe that water is your golden ticket to weight loss heaven either I'm afraid.

Many years ago a report came out from a relatively trust worthy source which stated that drinking water can greatly help you to lose weight. The bottled water companies jumped on this and some have gone as far to claim that all you need to do is drink water to lose weight.

Whilst water can help the breakdown of foods which can lead to some weight loss, on it's own, it will not make you lose any weight.

Everyone Wants A Piece Of The Action

In the end when it comes to free rapid weight loss tips you have to do what is best for you.

Sporting goods companies will tell you that more exercise is the way to go because that means you will buy more equipment.

Farmers markets will tell you to eat your 5 a day to lose weight quickly so they can sell you more fruit - it's pretty obvious.

So check with your doctor if someone tries to give you free rapid weight loss tips that you are a little concerned about as they will give you the straight dope.

Good Food Guide For Healthy Eating-Healthy Living Part 7

By Haiyan Lai-Heskin

Fruits and vegetables are important to our health for many reasons; certainly because they contain fibre in the whole food, and they contain phytonutrients, which are plant based nutrients in the numbers of 20,000 or more, all of which work together to ensure our health.

Eating five or more servings of fruits and vegetables is the simple "5 A Day" message, and a smart strategy for better health. Vegetables are virtually fat free and contain no cholesterol.

Certainly the acid test or taste of the good cook is in the preparation of vegetables. To prepare vegetables without butter or fat means that a little originality is required by the cook, such as by the use of herbs or seasoning.

Since many of the vital vitamins and minerals in vegetables may be destroyed by cooking, the ideal use of raw vegetables is the most desirable for any menu, and especially for the low-fat menus and raw food diets.

As very positive shows on raw foods diet, vegetables becomes the most important ingredient as it can be combined with cottage cheese, or gelatin recipes. Use raw vegetables almost exclusively, since the vitamin value is at peak this way, and the crispness of the vegetables is most appetizing.

In healthful eating patterns, fruits are as important as vegetable as contain virtually no fat and are entirely free of any cholesterol. When fresh fruits are not in season, use dried, canned, or frozen fruits. Two notable exceptions, however, are the avocado and the coconut, which are both very high in fat content and thus should be avoided. Otherwise there is no restriction on the use of fruits, which are also certainly ideal for desserts.

Fruits and vegetables salads are very porpular and often served before a main course. However, a well-constructed vegetable or fruits salad can be served as a meal all alone in low fat or raw food diet.

Aspic salads are excellent when prepared with vegetables or vegetable juices. And gelatin salads are special favorites to many, especially when made with fruit juices instead of water. If cottage cheese is added to gelatin and aspic salads, more protein and "body" results.

Simply add various fruits and vegetables to your daily diet is the easy way to help improve your health, give you a quick boost of flavor and energy anytime. And also helps reduce the risk of many cancers, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and cataracts.

Fitness Tips - Weight Loss Tips

By Marc Bauer

Are you looking to lose weight to improve your appearance, your health, or even both? If you are, you may be looking for advice. The good news is that there are a number of tips that you can use to help you successfully lose weight and hopefully achieve your weight loss goal.

Eating healthy involves watching the foods that you eat, not necessarily how much food you eat. Of course, you may want to restrict the amount of foods that you eat, when on a diet, but it is more important to focus on the foods that you do eat. For instance, if you were to eat fruit instead of chips, you could have more fruit snacks with your meals than you would be able to if you were just to eat junk food.

Since eating healthy is an important component of losing weight, you may be wondering how you can go about doing so. One of the first things that you should do is find and familiarize yourself with healthy meals. You can do this by way of standard internet search or by buying a collection of healthy eating recipe books. To reduce the boredom often associated with healthy eating, especially if you are not use to it, it is important that you ?spice,? up your foods and try to not eat the same meals over and over again each week.

In connection with healthy eating, regular exercise is also important to weight loss. If you are looking to lose weight, you should start an exercise plan for yourself. Exercise is important as it burns off calories. When you burn calories, the amount of calories that your body absorbs decreases. This is, essentially, what makes it possible for you to lose weight. If you haven?t been exercising regularly in the past, it is important that you take it slow. Exercise is a great way to lose weight, but you do not want to overdo it, especially at first.

If you don?t currently have an exercise plan or program in place, you may be wondering more about what you can do. One of the many ways that you can go about finding exercises or workouts to do is by buying a collection of fitness magazines. Many fitness magazines have detailed exercises outlined in them, often accompanied by pictures. You may also be healthy to find free instructional workout videos or exercise moves online. As a reminder, it is important to start out slow or at least start with exercises that would be cushy for you to.

One of those tips involves finding a workout partner or a workout buddy. This is a person who can exercise with you, whether your exercise involves visiting a local gym or just going for a walk at a local shopping center. Having a workout partner may help to keep you motivated and it may help to keep exercising and losing weight fun and exciting for you.

Another way that you can go about successfully achieving your weight loss goal is by ?spicing,? up your exercises. As previously mentioned, you can use the internet or fitness magazines to find workouts for you to do at home. To help reduce the boredom often associated with exercising you will want to change up your exercises, often on a regular basis. For instance, one day you may want to use a treadmill, the next day you may want to lift weights, and the next day you may want to do an exercise DVD, and so forth.

You should also consider making exercise and healthy intake logs or journals for yourself. These items can be used to track your progress. If you have a good week, like one where you completed all of your exercises, you may want to think about rewarding yourself. Your reward doesn?t have to include food; it can be something as simple as a sticker or treating yourself to a movie. Journals and logs have been known to help many individuals looking to lose weight and it may be healthy to do the same for you.

Live Lobsters: A Short History

By Sherry Shantel

When was the last time you enjoyed a big old juicy lobster drenched in melted butter? I'll bet that just the thought of it is making you hungry for more. Before making a trip to the local Red Lobster for a $25.00 lobster dinner, take a minute to listen to some historical facts about your dinner-to-be.

Early Native Americans were a funny bunch. They had super-easy access to lobsters, but they refused to eat them. Instead, they used them to fertilize their farm fields or as fish bait. How sad is that?

The early European settlers which graced our shores didn't eat lobster meat, either. They'd pick them up by hand to use as fertilizer or to feed to the lowest creatures of their society, slaves, indentured servants, children, and the poor. After years of this practice, indentured servants begin to protest the constant lobster diet. In fact, they went so far as having it written into their contracts that they would never have to eat lobster more than three times a week.

Until the early 19th century, people collected lobsters by hand from tide pools along the shore. The first lobster traps didn't appear until around 1850. Lobster meat was only sold in cans, and the canned meat just didn't have much flavor, so it wasn't popular with consumers.

It wasn't until our modern transportation system developed that live lobsters became sought-after luxury items. Shipped to the big cities, they quickly became expensive luxury food for the higher classes of our population.

Have you ever felt a little funny about watching a lobster resting quietly in a fish tank only minutes before he appears on your plate? Don't worry. That's been a common feeling since people began eating lobsters years ago. But if you want to experience lobster in its freshest form, this is the way it has to be done.

My great-grandmother lived most of the way through the 1960s. People around her were eating lobsters and other seafood, but she refused to even consider the possibility. It's not that she was a picky eater, because she had been raised to eat everything that was put on her plate. It's just that her sensibilities had been honed during America's Victorian era when ladies would never even think about something as ghastly as tossing a live lobster into boiling water. Pass me the smelling salts, please!

At least we've finally learned to appreciate the quality of a live lobster dinner. The prices have even come down enough that middle-class citizens can afford to eat them, too. We can buy them in supermarkets or from online merchants and cook them in our own homes. We've come a long way, baby!

Wine Making Common Problems

By Lucille Green

The the most common in all wine making failures can be attributed to equipment that is inadequate. Many make the mistake of using standard items for wine making because they aren't familiar with the carboys, spoons and airlocks that are required for the process. It's important to take note though, that some equipment is composed of special material so using products made from other materials can have an impact on on your wine.

Generally, it's a bad idea to try to recycle containers that have been home to other products mostly foods. It is far better to spend the money to buy the proper equipment so you can be positive your wine makeing will be a success.

Another mistake is not following directions and because of that, there's an urge to make the process easier which is a definite mistake. If you are a cook you probably understand the necessity to follow the directions of a recipe since not following them usually ends badly and the same is true in wine making.

The quality of your water can also impact the quality of your wine because hard water or water that has a high mineral content will create wine that has flavors that are somewhat off or even have somewhat of a haze. You should also know that water from a salt-exchange water softener should never be used in wine making. To be sure of the quality it would be best to only use bottled water and by doing so, you'll notice a huge difference.

Handling the yeast properly, is also important it needs to be moistened at the proper temperature in order to become activated. In conditions that are too cold there will be no activation in contrast, if it's too hot, the yeast will die. Usually it's best to try and keep it between to keep your temperature between 65 and 75. Be certain the temperature remains consistent because if the area becomes too cold the process will end up taking too long which can cause excess fizz.

Another popular mistake is removing the sulfite in the wine which is usually the result of allergies to sulfite. Though it is quite accurate that some people are allergic to sulfites, it needs to be pointed out that even if you take the sulfite from the wine the wine won't actually be sulfite free due to the fact that the yeast always creates additional sulfites anyway. The reason for the sulfites is to prevent spoiling and oxidation. In under a month the wine will not taste right and in less than ninety days it will be undrinkable.

Lastly, be certain make sure you spend the time with your wine that it needs because successful wine making, is art. To truly appreciate the end result you need to wait as long as it takes for the wine to improve before giving it a taste.

Vitamin B17 " Can It Really Cure Cancer?

By Rita Goldman

For almost forty years, Vitamin B17 has been claimed by alternative medicine experts to effectively cure and even prevent cancer. Theres a lot of controversy about Vitamin B17s efficiency, let alone its real components. What is it anyway? Vitamin B17, otherwise known as Laetrile, can be found in some fruit seeds, particularly in apricot seeds. Scientists claimed that when these seeds were taken in, it can prevent you from acquiring cancer and even heal your cancer in no time.

Because of this, there had been a lot of pharmaceutical companies which developed different kinds Vitamin B17 supplements. Until now, the United States FDA havent approved any Vitamin B17 supplement because they believe it is not a safe choice for cancer prevention and healing. Why is this so? With further studies conducted by FDA, Laetrile has been found to contain Amygdalin, a plant compound which produces cyanide.

FDA didnt approve of Vitamin B17 because of the toxic effects of cyanide it contains. Some patients who have been undergoing Laetrile treatments have shown symptoms of cyanide poisoning which include nausea and vomiting, headache, dizziness, lack of oxygen in blood which causes bluish skin color, liver damage, low blood pressure, droopy upper eyelid, damaged nerves, fever, mental confusion, coma, and even death. These dangerous symptoms are the reasons why FDA does not approve Vitamin B17 supplements.

Even if this is the case, there are still some countries which produce Laetrile supplements like Mexico. Some cancer patients have been cured from their illness totally while others have diminished tumor sizes. Vitamin B17 is a promising anticancer supplement however the dangerous symptoms attached to it still leaves the public skeptical about the product.

Before taking any supplement, always remember to consult with your doctor first to avoid any complications with your current treatment procedures. Laetrile might prove to be the answer to all cancer cases but we should still beware. Theres still the urgent need to find a sure cure for cancer, one that is not life threatening.
