Everybody loves pancakes, right? Unless you are on a no carb diet or you despise food, you probably enjoy a stack of pancakes now and then. Most people don't have pancakes on a regular basis like they would cereal or something like that because they take longer to make, but they are delicious.
It usually takes longer to make pancakes than it does other breakfasts. For example, cereal is as simple as pouring it from a box into a bowl and then pouring milk over the cereal. Then your all set to eat. With pancakes, you have to make batter, pour it onto a griddle to form pancakes, cook, flip, cook some more, and serve it.
While pancakes aren't too hard to cook up, if you want them to actually resemble pancakes, you need to know how to correctly and effectively flip them. If you flip them wrong, you might end up with a mess of pancake that just doesn't look right. Get the flip down and you will get what you know as a pancake.
Now you will need to get your flipping tool. Preferably don't use something that is metal. This will scratch the pan and if your griddle has a nonstick coating, you will ruin it. Use some sort of cooking spatula like a turner. It should be pretty much the same thing you use to flip burgers.
Start by pouring the batter on a hot griddle. Make the pancakes average size. If they are too big, they will be much harder to flip. Turn them over only when they are absolutely ready. Tiny bubbles will form along the top. This takes about a minute or so for average size pancakes.
Now to flip. Slide the turner underneath the pancake quickly so as to not push the pancake off the pan or into another pancake. After lifting the pancake off the pan, place the edge of the turner to the side of where you want to flip it then quickly flip it over on to the spot. Then just let it cook another minute and it's ready to serve!
